2015 OBB Public Partnership of the Year Award
Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC)
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction was an early adopter of the OBB. What started out from humble beginnings with just a few correctional facility unit managers, prison chaplains and national service members has grown into a much greater collaboration. There are now nearly 100 active, OBB-trained ODRC staff. In 2015, this partnership expanded greatly and is growing to cover the entire ODRC system. The groundwork is in place so that during 2016, all 20,000+ inmates being released in the state of Ohio will have the opportunity to apply for SNAP prior to their release. This partnership is one piece of a coordinated effort by ODRC to better equip the thousands of returning citizens leaving their facilities each year. Accepting the 2015 OBB Public Partner of the Year award on behalf of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction are ODRC Deputy Director, Norman Robinson and ODRC Reentry Administrator Gwendolyn Woods.
